New York Fashion Week A/W 2015

Happy Saturday blogees!

For anyone who has an interest in fashion, this past week has been just what the doctor ordered to beat away those mid winter blues; New York Fashion Week of course! We enjoyed it that much, we wanted to do an overview to relive some of our fave collections and celebrate some of our fave designers. So let's crack on...

First up is Oscar de la Renta's new bits and bobs. The collection is a tale of two halves. The first half being full of striking geometric pattens with stripes and checks in deep smouldering shades of red and black(automtically gets a thumbs up from us for use of dark colours). This half of the collection heavily inspired by workwear, we saw lots of tailored shirts paired with pencil skirts etc. We like that, as it's wearable for the everyday person. Let's face it, we spend more time at work then we do in lesuire, so our workwear is always in need of  a sproose. The 2nd half of the collection was more typical of what you would expect from the big man. There was a huge empasis on brightly coloured, satin ball gowns and lots of embellished pieces. We love the contrast between the serious nature of the 'workwear' half compared with the fun and frivolous second half of the collection. Variety is the spice of life afterall. The models sported very fresh 'barely there' make up featuring a black winged liner, probs not to detract from the clothes spectacle.

Next up is Jenny Packham's shot at A/W. As one of the Duchess of Cambridge's favoured designers, Jenners did not disappoint with her gorg collection of formal but fun dresses and jumpsuits. Resisting the urge to sing 'Black and Gold', Packers went for a prodominently black and gold colour scheme with occassional hues of beige and navy, just becuase she can. Another key feature of Jen's designs were all the use of embellishment, particularly with sequins and stones to give a tactile nature. Again, with regards to make up, it was kept simple to let the clothing do the talking.

Ahhhhh, behold, Alice & Olivia. This collection gets a massive thumbs up from us on a number of different levels. This collection is host to a great use of monochrome (fave colour scheme of all time), golds and reds complete with lots of embroidery and tapestry fabrics. In other words... Heavy. Mainly, all the items were paired with leather knee highs, which creates a very regal, Henry VIII type vibe. We like a lot.
Tommy Hilfiger // Photos from Vogue
Celebrating a massive 30th Birthday in style is Tommy Hilfiger (probs not the man himself, but the brand), and boy is this collection is ready to party. Following their underpinning homage to sportswear, the major theme of this collection was the american football theme. The lovely models donned varsity shirts, baseball attire and football boots with heels on. THHQ went all the way, with setting the show at a football stadium with REAL astroturf (oxymoron we know but go with it), now that's dedication at it's finest.
Victoria Beckham // Photos from Vogue
Last on our list is easy V herself, Victoria Beckham. Proving she's a real ladeee (soz for the wannabe lyrics but it's too good an opportunity to miss) with this collection, featuring big chunky jumpers and thick woolen coats, contrasted delightfully with body enhancing dresses. All usually completed with chunky buttons and leather boots, gorgeous! Vicky B might have had one thing more favourable than any other designers, her biggest supporters all sitting pretty in the frow. Yep hubby Dave brought all the kids, and very fine they looked too. Well Done Team Beckham, we salute you all.

So that concludes our NYFW update, let us know what you thought!

Love always,

LLB x
