A guide to: Red Lipstick
Happy Weekend everyone!
This week we're all about the humble red lipstick. However, just because it's a classic look, don't be under any illusions it's easy to create. These things take time y'no. To help you all know what shade is right for you and how to keep it's long lasting effect, we've put some pointers down below.
So, if you have a pale skin tone, any coral shades of red usually enhance your skins colour without overpowering the face.
If you have medium coloured/olive type skin, reds with ore of a pink shade work best as they compliment the yellowy/golden tones often found in medium toned skin (check out our 'How to choose foundation' post here to find out what undertones you have to your skin).
Bright reds or deep rich colours work best with darker skin tones as the colour contrasts beautifully.
Once you've found your perfect shade of red, you'll want to make sure it lasts all day. To acheive this, apply a moisturising lip balm before you use the lipstick. At this point, we'd like to shoutout to Carmex moisture plus, but other brands are available ;) after that, just pat off the excess which will keep your lips moisturised all day and avoid the lipstick from slacking off. Next use a lip pencil to line the outside of your lips, and to shade the lips to get a good base for the lipstick to sit on. This will make your lipstick last longer and give a more finished look. You can then apply the lipstick over the top, using a lip brush to make sure the colour is applied evenly and illiminate any bumps.
Hopefully you'll be well on your way to having the perfect red lips whenever you desire!
Until next time,
LLB x
