And the name is...

So yesterday we were still high from the news of a new baby Princess. But the one question that still remained was what would she be called? Proud parents Wills and Kate announced the name shortly after it had been given the royal seal of approval by the Queen. We are all now delighted to know that the name is...

Charlotte Elizabeth Diana

YAYYYY! To use the Princess' full title she will now be known as...

HRH Princess Charlotte of Cambridge

So now we know. We love the name, so in honour of little Lottie we thought we'd just take a look at what that name means.

Firstly Charlotte. The first thing that strikes us as it is a name with royal connections, but has been surprisingly absent from use in the royal family for many years. This will allow the princess to be herself, without trying to live up to anyone. However, the name was not plucked from thin air. Wills and Kate are far more thoughtful than that. As well as being the female version of Charles (her paternal grandfather's name),  Charlotte is also the middle name of Kate's only sister Pippa. The name seems very fitting as it honours members of both families perfectly.

Elizabeth. Forget what we said about not having to live up to anyone. Wow! Obviously, Elizabeth is a hugely significant name in the royal family, with it being the Queen's first name. The name has been in the family for centuries, and is often a middle name for many girls let alone royal ones! Elizabeth also has connections to the Middleton side, as Kate's own middle name is Elizabeth. So again another name that encapsulates both sides of the family. With George having one of his Father's middle names in Louis, it seems fitting Charlotte should take her Mother's.

Lastly Diana. Again, what a name to be tasked with. Obviously, the name is a fitting tribute to William's late Mother, Lady Diana. Whilst there was huge speculation about the name, one name that was almost never doubted would make the lineup should the baby be a girl was Diana, due to William's well documented love and closeness to his Mother. Due to him always wanting to keep his Mother as a part of the family going forward, Kate sports Diana's engagement ring. To add to the affection Willia and Kate clearly feel for Diana, many members of the public wanted Diana's legacy to be honoured. So as the news of the name spreads tonight, we're sure the name shall be regarded as a fitting tribute.

Personally, we think the name is just great. It ties together both families and has significant meaning. They obviously thought about it!

So now as the family are expected to move to their new house in Norfolk tomorrow to retreat, we are left wondering when we will next get a glimpse at the new generation of royals. But for now, we're left to reflect on a long weekend we won't foget in a hurry...

Love always,

LLB x
