The Princess Diaries

Well, quite honestly it's quite difficult for us to keep still long enough to write this post as we're THAT excited. Incase you've been living under a rock for the last 24 hours, most of the World has now shared in the excitement of a new tiny Royal Baby Princess.
Since the nation (and indeed the World) heard the news that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were expecting another little bundle of joy, following Kate's pregnancy news back in early September, the globe's media has eagerly awaited the birth or any signs of the Duchess and her growing bump. We were then told as Kate neared the end of the pregnancy that her we could expect the arrival anytime between 'Mid to Late April'. But as April came and went, there was still no sign. Prince William took paternity leave, royal well wishers began to camp outside the Lindo Wing, Kate's mum even turned up at Kensington Palace ready to take on Nanny duties. All the procedures were in place, but still no baby. BUT, in the early hours of yesterday morning (2nd May) the new Baby Cambridge (sorry George!) was on the way. As you might be able to tell, we're a TAD excited about this. So to celebrate the birth of the new Baby, we thought we'd look back at all the great points of yesterday's fairytale; our very own Princess Diaries.

So 6am yesterday, Kate finally goes into labour. We all wake up to the news that Kate has been admitted to St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, where she also had Prince George and also where Princes William and Harry were born.

By 8.34am (I know, quicker than we were all expecting!) we were told that the Duchess had given birth safely to a Baby... GIRL! This was a huge cause celebration as we can all saftely say, the majority wanted a girl; including Grandad Prince Charles and Dad Prince William. The Princess weighed 8lbs 3oz (a nice healthy weight) Mother and Baby were said to be doing well, and William was present at the birth.

The speculation then started. How long would it be before the royals emerged from the hospital? Would they leave on the same night? Would there be any family visitors? What would her name be? What would Kate wear? SO MANY QUESTIONS. Luckily, we weren't waiting for most of those answers for too long.

The news was broke in a mixture of ways. Firstly, the Kensington Palace broke the news through Twitter and continued tweet updates rather helpfully for the rest of the day. So shoutout to Kenny Palace. After that, in true British style, the town crier made an annoucement outside the hospital confirming the details in a very loud voice. We're not sure that's just what Kate and indeed all the other exhausted mothers and babies wanted to hear outside the hospital, but hey it is tradition. After that, the offical declaration of the birth was put on the golden Easel outside Buckingham Palace.

After the intial buzz, we thought there might not be any more news for that day. However, mid afternoon, a beaming Prince William steps outside the Lindo Wing and jumps in his Range Rover. What a guy. It was thought he was off to see Prince George (who we should remember is still only 21 months himself) to tell him the news of his new sister and give Kate's mum a break from babysitting. But we were all in for a treat when to everyone's suprise, William returned to the hospital WITH the baby Prince. HOW ADORABLE. In matching attire, a slightly shy Prince George made his way into the hospital, clinging onto his dad. He did manage a very sweet wave though, which kept the crowds spirits high.

It was hoped that after George had come in, the new family of 4 may have all left the Lindo Wing together for the first offical picture. Some speculated George's visit meant that Kate would be staying in hospital the night. Neither of those events happened.

At around 6pm, with Prince George being snuck out round the back, the Duke and Duchess were ready to give the world their first glimpse of the new Baby Princess. Kate stepped out cradling her new daughter in a custom made Jenny Packham yellow and white floral dress with William by her side. They posed on the steps and waved adoringly at fans. Kate looked radient as always, and Wills also looked proud as punch. They briefly popped back into the hospital.. just to put the Princess safely in her car seat. The trio then returned, got in the car, and Wills drove them all home.

So we hope you enjoy looking back at all the glorious pictures from yesterday, we know we could keep staring at them for hours. The one thing left uncertain for now is the name. There are several top betsin Alice and Charlotte, but what about Diana and Elizabeth? Hopefully we may get a name either today or tomorrow, so watch this space.

In the meantime, all that's left to say is a massive congrats to the whole family... and here's to the new Princess!

Love always...
